Just thought I’d tell you I’ve added some stuff on the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2011 including an i-player link for Mike Harding’s run through the nominees posted here. I’ve also got some reaction from Chris Wood and Heidi Talbot scheduled for the weekend and will have more reactions next week, from Fay and hopefully from Jon amongst others. Bellowhead at Shepherds Bush tomorrow too – Yowsah! I can’t wait. The whole families coming along.

Thank you for this info, Skyman.
Aside from Jon, Bellowhead and Fay being in there, I was very pleased to see both Megson and Chris While & Julie Matthews in the running for best duo. Pity they can’t both win! I have always loved Chris While’s voice since hearing her sing on the Ridgeriders CDs, and a very kind person has just bought me her and Julie Matthews’ new album called ‘Hitting The Ground Running’ for my recent birthday. I was given some wonderful presents! (including Fay’s album and Jon’s ‘Floodplains’!)
But the latest Megson album The Longshot, all about aspects of old working life, is also just fabulous, though I can’t think why they didn’t call it after another track ‘Working Life Out’ that seems so appropriate.
So many good nominations in there, it should be a fabulous awards ceremony. Great to see folk alive, well and very much kicking!
Chris wood is now up as there was a problem with the scheduling again, it seems to go a bit peculiar at times or perhaps more likely, I’m just cack-handed at setting it. I echo your comment Jane and know Megson pretty well, although don’t see so much of them since they moved out of London, they are lovely people and very talented. Chris and Julie are eqaually good, as is Kellie, Chris’s daughter. I can also strongly recommend Heidi Talbot’s The Last Star, Chris Woods Handmade Life and Kerr & Fagans Twice Reflected Sun, all of which will be in my year end top 20
I thought Chris While had a musical daughter. Got Chris Wood albums, got Heidi Talbot’s first album and getting second sent by kind friend imminently, but Kerr & Fagan is a new one to investigate – thanks, Skyman!
